What are the techniques for Cheerleading?

Question by ellabella: What are the techniques for Cheerleading?
I’m going to try out to be a cheerleader, in Western Australia, and i’m not sure if you need any certain techniques.
I can do a handstand, pretty good, and i can kinda do a cartwheel.
But if there aren’t any techniques needed for cheerleading, than tell me.
But if there is, please tell me them 🙂

Thankyou,
Bye.

to be a cheerleader, you don’t always need to know how to tumble .
i’ve been a cheerleader for 3 years and i can’t even do a handstand or a cartwheel .
you need a lot of upper arm strength if you are going to be a base in a stunt .
when you are doing motions , you need to squeeze your fists and muscles and be tight and sharp in every move.
also, try to avoid dairy and caffeine before cheering . they mess with your voice.
if you have anymore questions e mail me

Well what you might have to do are cartwheels, hand stands, etc and show spirit and don’t just stand there be happy and excited !!

    id say::
Spirit- be very spirited (always smile and keep the crowd in-tune) do alot of jumps and yells (ex: Go Team!) and stuff.
Movements- keep your movements STIFF and stay on count with cheers/chants and stunts.
always practice your cheers during free time to get better and always do the best you can!
keep the convorsation down during games.
always stretch to get better at your jumps and stunt movements ect.
thats all i can think of at the moment so good luck!! =]]

The best thing about cheerleading is that their is something for everyone. If you have the willingness to learn they will be willing to teach you what you do not know. Being a fast learner when it comes to dancing, cheers, formations, etc. . If you have any concerns contact the coaching staff before any tryout. Some offer cheer clinic where you can get a head start/sample of what you will be learning.

im n high school u have to have good grades they prefer u have tumbling skills but u don’t have to if u do u get extra pts.from the judges smile alot ..

jumps: toe touch, front hurdler, herkie, tuck, pike (they want them high)
make sure u have precision, nice tight motions not sloppy or broken wrists

req.: ask any present cheerleaders or the coach if u need tumbling if u do end up needing it take a class cuz u can’t perfect them by urself u can get hurt

work out plans : stretch, lift 5 lb. weights? cuz u need strength for ur motions, jumps, and when stunting, running/walking
stretches:sit with legs in a V position, as far apart as you can and lean and stretch at the same time on both sides (lean over left leg, then lean over right leg) also, try reaching your hands out in front of you as far as you can while doing these exercises., butterfly as well.If you do this on a regular basis, you will continue to become more flexible.

meal plan: fruits, veg, sweets every now and then try to stay fit
