@iCraacked I am a “go-between” in this case. I see both sides of both issues. I used to do gymnastics, which is very similar to cheerleading. Nowadays, I perform on the Varsity Cross-Country and Track Teams. I’ve competed in other sports, such as baseball, the martial arts and even basketball. The physical requirements mandated for cheerleading and other recognized sports, are very different. “Conditioning” your body just so you can do the same things you perform in conditioning is not a sport.
@Chocosizzles Disagreed. I will see Cheerleading as a sport due to the fact that under the dictionary definition of what a sport is, Competitive falls rightfully under is. Yes, it is an organized skit in a sense, however, there’s a lot of physical energy, lot’s of tears, sweat, pain, and obviously much more (Especially the better/higher up you are). A judge ruled it wasn’t but he can’t change what the dictionary holds and I disagree. Seeing as Cheerleading isn’t disorganized.
Cheerleadieng is a sport if you think im wrong well go to a Allstar cheerleading prctice and go ahead say that if its not or if it is a sport:) I’m a cheerleader myself and i have vids of my cheering so yea its hard it hurts but i love it 🙂

saying that cheer isn’t a sport is like saying that gymnastics, weight lifting, and dance are not sports. Cheer is a combination of all three, and for those who say that its not a sport, i urge you to attempt even half of the stuff that we do. Why don’t you try doing a round-off, double back-handspring, triple full, or throwing a girl ten stories, or lifting a girl above your head with one hand and no help. Its tough, and if you don’t think so, I’d like to see you attempt it.

@Chocosizzles uhm, no. it used to be a sport. there’s this certain guy, i forgot his name, that does all this stuff for cheerleading but he tried his hardest to get it ruled out so it’s not a sport and he succeeded. but now, since it’s not technically a sport, he gets more money when he hosts competitions and stuff. since it’s not a sport, nobody funds it and people get more money. but it used to be a sport and still should be. even chess is a sport. shove it(:

No, it’s not a sport. A cheerleading routine is pretty much an organized skit. If cheerleading is a sport, so is the Tony Awards.
And besides, the supreme court ruled that it isn’t anyway. If that type of authority doesn’t have a say in something, then you need to learn some discipline.

@TheSarahR – Well yeah were both teens, and yeah that came out wrong …..girls do use guys , but you rarely see it. It’s always the girl with the Facebook or Twitter status saying he broke my heart and all that. Rarely do you see the guy ever being used. I’ve never heard a girl say ” I used him to get in his pants” but i always hear guys saying it left to right. Maybe b/c of my sex i don’t hear what girls say about guys but whatever.

Ok so i know a lot of people are saying that gymnastics is in cheerleading and it is but just the floor part. I’m a cheerleader and i think it’s a sport cause i would like to see non cheerleaders do what we do. And for gymnasts out there i give you props you make everything you do on the bars, beams, floor, and vault look easy but some cheerleaders can do that stuff and they put it into cheerleading. So i definitely think cheerleading is a sport no matter what anyone says. 🙂
@TheSarahR – I can’t be picking on little girls if im the same age now can i? Nope, and guys are only easy in my head b/c we want to use you and get in yours pants, when do girls ever use guys? Never. So how is it possible for guys to be easier? Well when girls think they’re the ones doing the playing, they don’t realize the guy has been doing it since Day 1.

The reasons people don’t really think cheerleading is a sport is because there are two very different branches of cheerleading. This extreme kind and the kind that most people recognize from high school and university. See I wouldn’t call a bunch of girls spinning on the floor, shouting and showing everyone their asses a sport. I would call that retarded dancing. People don’t really think of stunt teams (which is just how I differentiate the two) when they say cheerleading is not a sport.
Cheerleading is a sport, and i dont no why some people think it isnt. dancing is a sport, and is gymnastics is a sport, and they are both in cheeelreading. plus you have to hold people obove your head. it is alot harder then most other sports. and if golf is a sport then cheerleading is defenitly a sport. Footballers throw footballs, we throw people. think about it. CHEERLEADING IS A SPORT!!
uhm I’m 16 , been a cheerleader for 8 years . you try holding someone above your head , on one leg & keep them balanced while they twist their body & throw them & catch them while they’re spinning . cheerleading has the most injuries out of all girl sports . wrestling is a sport , y’all are all over guys in some tight uniforms & tell me that don’t look wrong . & if you don’t like cheerleading why did you watch this video ? you ain’t got to . quit trying to be “cool” bc your not . you aren’t coo
