Q&A: What was it like being the only male cheerleader in your squad?

Question by ChavCool1234: What was it like being the only male cheerleader in your squad?
So, I’m on my high school’s co-ed cheer squad and for the last two year there were only two boys (another guy and me) but he’s moving out of town next week which really bummed me out because I’ll then be the only guy on the team and I’m going to feel really left out. So, what is it like having only one boy on your team or being the only male cheerleader with 15 other girls?

It’s like having a 15-way party.

  1. UK Cheerleader

You should feel good about yourself if you’re the only boy. There are a lot of male cheerleaders in college, high school level is pretty scarce. On my squad, there are mote guys than girls, lol.

Anyway, it’s okay to be the only boy cheerleader. You shouldn’t have to worry about your friend being gone; I know he was probably closest to you in the cheer world, but I’m sure the girls will be more than friendly to you, as well. Keep your head up and get those skills up because at the end of the day, skills is what you’re going to need if you want to cheer in college.
