ok, i just answered this exact question to another girl. so i dont feel like typing it over again, so ill just paste wat i wrote on her question!

anyways, im an expert at giving advice for tryouts! ok, this is what you need to do/ learn overall for tryouts. First off, start stretching everyday now!! it will definetly help you improve on your jumps and tumbling. 2nd, practice your cheer/dance as much as you can, in front of your friends or a mirrow. You can also record yourself doing it to see how clear your voice is and how sharp your motions are.
As for roundoffs or any other tumbling, i suggest you go to a gym, b/c it will help somehow.
    Day of tryouts:
-Be sure your prepared by memorizing all of your cheers/dance routine
    -Wear your school colors
-Drink water, it helps your voice come out stronger and louder. (dont scream the words, use your diaphram)
-Smile the whole time and be exited! dont make your smile look fake though, really show the judges you want to be here.
Also, relax and be confident w/ yourself. when you believe in yourself, you will get what you want! (i know it sounds dumb, but its true and i think thats how i made it) Good luck at tryouts!

i also suggest you go on youtube and search whatever you need to learn, such as your jumps. they have pretty great videos that teach you. Also, wikihow.com is great if you wanna learn how to do anything else! 🙂 Hope you make it!

Work on your jumps (toe-touch, pike and hurdles)
STRETCH everyday to become more flexible. I
f you can (or already do) get at least a backhandspring.
Make sur your motions are really sharp, there is nothing worse than sloppy motions! Practice in front of a mirror to see how your motions look.

The thing to do the most is have spirit and have fun!
    Good Luck!!

okay, well just make sure u stretch for about 10-20 minutes every day so u can be flexible.

work on ur material EVERY day and make sure u know it perfectly.

umm…if u tumble make sure u can do it on the gym floor, ({or where ever ur trying out}).

    okay well hope this helps.

    DONT FORGET TO SMILEE!:)

    XOXO the end.

Wat u shod do is stretch. practice on your jumps, and smile big. do not kiss up to the judges! Just practice. Practice the routines in a full-size mirror.
