How can our cheerleading team get more respect?

Question by hamanamana: How can our cheerleading team get more respect?
With the exception of a few girls, our cheerleading team gets very little respect in our school. My friends have told me that people make fun of us at games. There are a few overweight girls, and I think that people expect cheerleaders to look a certain way that not all girls do.

How did you get your team more respect?
OR
What would make you seriously respect your school’s cheering team more?

You could do some fundraisers for your school,
That way you could raise money for the baeketball/football team,
maybe then they would respect you more.
Is your squad good, bc if you had good cheers then myabe they would take you more serious.

What do you think? Answer below!

Do some really Intense stunts on the side lines, and ignore them, I know how it sounds lame but when you’re good you’ll get respect and if some jerks are gonna be mean to some girl who are a little heavy but are essential to lift the tiny girls (I am one!!) so do your best!

    Always be friendly to everyone

Ask why they’re not respecting the team

    Look like your really good

    Don’t fight with anger

    Hope this helps 🙂

Try stunts that LOOK complicated. Even doing a half twist-up to an elevator looks impressive. If your team isn’t as advanced as those on TV, (my school isn’t that great) step up practices. Learn a few simple pyramids, which look much cooler than a stunt. For example, a Lib tree looks more advanced than a lib, although it’s pretty much the same thing. Check out http://www.cheerwiz.com and try the Pyramid tool. It says the site has spyware or something, but the pyramid tool page is completely harmless, i go on it everyday and my computer is fine. Good luck!

we had this EXACT problem last year. To get more respect, you guys have to get serious. I know you’re going to say, we are serious. But not until you have everything in this list, are you serious suad

    1. Start doing community service as a squad. This gets a good name out about you guys and how amazing you are

    2. When you guys do something, try to get it into the newspaper or news. Most local places are more than happy to do stories on teams

    3. Start a real workout program. Im talking running 3 days a week for a 20 minute minimum, lifting weights and things like group palates. Maybe even try swimming laps. All as a team of course.Other teams do it, you guys should too. Not only will this make you guys look legit, but you guys will also get in better shape, so some of those heavier girls (not to be mean) but will look like people think cheerleaders do

    4. Fundraising. no explination needed here

    5. Start traditions such as group cheers, or free pizza give away or other things. Pizza places are happy to donate one pizza per home game, especially if its the place your school regularly buys from.

    6. Go to cheer camp. i dont know if you already do, but it is the best thing to improve a squad. The UCA staff is really supportive and helpful, yet very honost. If your school doesnt like the squad, it has to do with their talent at some extent.

    7. Perform. Dances, Hello Cheers (NOT like “hello friends, how do u do!) anything that tells the fans that the squad thinks the team is the best. even if your football team sucks

Those are the basis to getting a more lovable, better team! if you have any questions, feel free to ask

Throw some really intense stunts. If that doesn’t help just ignore them they will find better things to do.
