Say someone took private cheerleading classes but never cheered in high school or on a competitive team.
Could they still be a cheerleader in college?

No, You do not have to just as long you have some qualities on dancing that is all. So if you are trying out for cheer for High school but its a choice if you want to do that or not. I just think that all you need to do is have some quailities of dancing that is all….

I think it is an unwritten requirement. It also depends on the level of competition the school participates in. If it is Division 1, you definitely need prior experience. If you are at a non-scholarship school, maybe anyone can try out.

I’m sure it depends. If they took a lot of classes and are really good they could probably make it. They would lack the experience with competitions and cheering in a group however, which would probably make it hard for them to make the team in college. If the person still had time, I’d suggest that they join a team, because working with a team and competing and cheering together is a different experience than just taking classes.
