My daughter is 8 years old and trying out for cheerleading?
We really need help because she is a level 7 gymnast and a great dancer (she takes ballet jazz and contemporary) and she has the looks and the voice. This year she’s in third grade and old enough for the All-Star Shooting Star program. I know she’s ready, but does anyone have tips?
Thanks so much Katie! It’s people like you that make answers worthwhile.

at the audition tell her not to be shy, and smile. The coaches will love the cute little preformer and will love to have her on the squad. tell her to Be herself and pay attetion at the tryouts to wow the Coaches with her great behavior. they will love her

well i’m not a cheerleader, but i’m a majorette that has gymnastics skills and took tap, jazz, ballet, and baton for 9 years.

i would tell her to make sure she smiles and doesn’t stress about it. show her personality…judges/coaches love that. make sure you make her feel confident in her skills before the audition. if she doubts herself, she won’t do well.
    i wish her luck!

It would help her confidence level if she knows a little about cheering before she starts the program. You can have her practice jumps and motions, which are done a little differently in cheer than in gymnastics and dance. (Some gymnasts try to do a front hurdler and wind up with a wolf jump, for instance, and cheer motions are much stiffer than she is probably used to.)

Good luck to her. I hope she loves it! :^D
