Answer by jigglepiggle
What is Cheerleading?
When people say Cheerleading isn’t a sport,
I always ask them one thing then,
“If Cheerleading isn’t a sport,
then why is it all over ESPN?”
Then their minds go blank,
they don’t know what to say,
They usually start to wonder,
and have to think about that question all day.
Not all cheerleaders are snobby,
Not all cheerleaders are mean,
Not all cheerleaders can do back flips,
If you no what I mean.
Not all cheerleaders are blonde,
and not all of them are dumb,
Cheerleading is a sport,
And we all like to have fun!

tip: during some tryouts they will have the varsity team stare at you and make rude comments or give dirty looks to see if you have enough guts to keep going, confidence is key! good luck!

Ok, Give me thumbs up & best asnwer after this please!!

    “CHEERLEADING”
Its not a sport as poeple might say, its more then a “SPORT” It’s a active thing, that can be compative…Gives you corage,Strength,Knowlenge,Alert,Team leading,Sport manship, and one and only, its everybodys thing. for girls, boys, kids, adults, teenagers, YOU!!!
Try out…You should at least stretch 2-3 hours a day, so your musules can be use to be stretched…Work out..Have Kindness…You should have a heart to help poeple that in need..You have to be alert of ANYTHING!!! What it takes..It takes you, you to at least try!!
When you try out, they give attitude, so to see if your nice enough to hold in your anger, and if its too high can you protect your self and others…Thats what to not to forget!!

It takes a lot of hard work, time, and deducation to be a cheerleader. It’s not something that you can just onde day decide ur gonna do just because you feel like it. I am at my cheer gym 4 to 5 days a week with competitions on most Saturdays. Everyone says “Cheerleading isnt a sport” and they are WRONG. its usually the people that havent tried/seen real cheerleading. Real cheerleaders DONT just wave around pom poms (i dont even use poms), they DONT just wear short tight skirts to get attention from guys (have you ever tried tumbling or stunting in a long flowly skirt? It is not easy. Most uniforms are aerodynamically sounds), and the DONT just jump around yelling “go team!”. Real cheerleaders have a passion for cheerleading, we stunt, tumble, and dance, we are triple threats. So before you go to cheer try-outs you might wanna take atleast a couple tumbilg and/or cheer classes so you arent embarassed because most of the other girls that will be trying out…it probably wont be their first time at a try-out, or learning choreography, or tumbling. It probably wont be their first time cheerleading.
I’m sorry if this all sounded harsh or mean but the world of cheerleading is hardcore and if you wanna be in it you have to be tough and be able to take critisism with out getting your feelings hurt.

anyone can cheerlead. you dont have to do back flip or hand springs. it helps, but i cant do those things and i was a cheerleader. you should be able to do the splits atleast. but it is pretty easy.

your body has to be flexible.
if it is not then try doing all kinds of exercises and practice a lot.
and most of all be confident.
    good luck..

I personally have never liked the idea of cheer leading. Cheer leading is basically funky hip hop, not pretty dancing. I know all of the cheerleaders at my school, and none of them are nice. None of them have ever gotten a straight A report card. Many of them have become involved in drugs. They all have blond straightened hair and a fake tan. I think this is proof that cheerleaders are not very glamorous! They might be good at hip hop, but there is nothing amazing about hip hop, in my opinion at least. Some cheerleaders might be OK, but I’ve never met one that is. I really don’t mean to seem rude or stereotypical, but let’s face it, most cheerleaders don’t have good reputations. Once I told my mom that I wanted to start cheer leading (just to see what she would say) and she begged me not to! That’s how bad cheerleaders can be. I’m not saying that ALL cheer leaders are bad, but MOST are because they go to such lengths to become a cheer leader and fit in. They get involved in drugs, go to parties with alcohol, develop eating disorders, etc. This is not a lie, this is the truth. If you really want to be a cheer leader, go for it. Just know what you are up against….

Most of the people on this board probably have never cheerleaded and I’ll admit I had the same thoughts before I joined. In fact after I had broken up with a boyfriend I did just wake up and decide to audition! On one hand I had a ton of dance experience but on the other hand I was terrible at gymnastics! I had never stunted before but I tried it and wasn’t all that horrible at it. They saw that I had tons of personality and could do the facials, cheers, and jumps and I made the team for every sport my college offers. It really depends on what type of school you go to and how the cheerleaders are viewed. I was lucky enough to go to a school where the cheer team gets top grades and are seen as leaders of the student body. We went to nationals and had an article written about us in the SPORTS section! And get this- hardly any of us were blond, slutty or did drugs or whatever other stereotypes cheerleaders get. Don’t listen to what everyone else is saying, if you have confidence in yourself you can do it!

Recently I received a tip from some friend of mine. She ordered
cheerleading uniforms, with individual coloring, size and lettering
for just about 50$ each. She said the uniforms are of best quality and
a real bargain. Especially for cheerleader groups or clubs with a low budget
a real good alternative to get perform their skills in professional
    looking outfits.

We also ordered our latest set at the shop and I have to totally agree
with my friend. At this price nothing will top those uniforms. We are
so happy, because now we are able to present ourselves professionally
and not like before with improvised uniforms. We will soon have our
first paid performance, and the new uniforms also gave a boost to our
spirit. I hope I could help some of you groups out there that lack
some decent uniforms. Let’s hope those prices will be there to stay,
as long as the shop is still small I am confident. Did any of you
order at the same onlineshop, and what is your level of satisfaction?
You can find the shop under: http://www.cheer-spirit.com

In no time we also have the opportunity to compete in championships, where there are regulations regarding uniforms. This online shop gave us this opportunity, and we are thankful for that.

In our first competition last week we made the 3rd place, so now we practice a lot as we think we can make it to become a top team;).

    Cheers, CheerTena
