    Do you take gymnastics and/or ballet? Do you have a good attitude toward your schoolwork, your teachers, your schoolmates, and your family?

    If you have all of this going for you, I’d say you’re fine–as a cheerleader and as a human being. If there’s anything on this list that needs work…well, now you know!

    You have to have enthusiasm. To get a crowd going you have to be pumped yourself. Use cheers that get the crowd involved. Practice your routines.

    I’m not a cheerleader, however, from what I have seen, being a good, if not great cheerleader, requires a lot of hard work, practice and dedication. Even with that, not everyone will make the cheer-leading squad. It takes more than just a pretty face!

    It is my understanding that cheerleaders for professional football and basketball teams have to try out every year. In other words, even if you make the squad one year doesn’t mean you will make it the next. The ones that are finally chosen are selected from a very talented group. I also think they are very athletic since after all it requires an athlete to perform many of the routines.

    After you do make the squad, there are literally hours of dedication and hard work. All the fans see is the final routine. What they don’t see is all of the practice and preparation that went into it.

    Ultimately, I think a dedicated, hard working and athletic individual, with a good personality can make a very good cheerleader.

    work on motions..keep them sharp and watch out for bent wrists..practice in a mirror so you can see what you do wrong and need to change…….work on stretching, espicially splits..this will help you improve your jumps greatly..you want your jumps to be high with pointed toes..in toe touches rotate your hips foreward..that will help your legs get higher…snap your legs together when you land….have a strong confident and clear voice..yell from your diaphram not your throat….finally smile…look like you are having fun
