Can we use the word cheerleader for someone who trolling in Internet forum?

Question by DeepBlueuOcean: Can we use the word cheerleader for someone who trolling in Internet forum?
I meant he support the people that he agree with, but he never really involved in the discussion, but only to insult the opponent and to praise the people that he agree with.

Can I say this to him: “Being cheerleader in this thread is safer for someone like you, it can save your from further emberassment”.

Can you make such a similar statement?

as a past cheerleader and coach….I can’t grasp the connection here!

if he isn’t involved in the discussion, then he isn’t a participant.
likewise, if he is insulting one party and agreeing with the other, he is just expressing his feelings. This is life. We don’t have to agree with everything that we here….but we shouldn’t insult people either!!!

Here is where I don’t get the connection…..

Cheerleaders, by definition, are very involved participants. They do not insult the opponent, but cheer for their team. And, I might add cheer loudly for what they believe in. They are ambassodors of the school and therefore would not insult other schools with adverse behaviors.

So to call this person a cheerleader, would not be accurate.
