Well to able to hold your weight in a stunt you need to have very strong core muscles. Core muscles are in your abb area. They help you stay balanced and maintain weight distribution. Here are some exercises that i work on at my tumbling class to strengthen core muscles-

Hope this Helps!

Well if you haven’t cheered before, flying is da wrong option. Just practice being a base for now. But you don’t have to hold your own weight. YOu have to be extremely flexible. Search up how to do a scorpian and heel stretch and then see if you can be a flyer. I’m a flyer and it is the hardest part of the stunt and takes years of practice.

You can’t exactly hold your own weight. Basically it’s *slang, if you will for saying “Keep your balance, keep your shoulders back, back straight, knees locked (not too locked though!) and keep your cool”

Holding your weight pretty much means stay tight. As a flyer staying tight it extremely important it helps the bases lift you up easier. To hold your weight just squeeze your but and abs and lock your knees. Just be as tight as possible. Also just another tip when the bases are about to lift you in the air and your holding there shoulders when your about to go up push off there shoulders really hard and when you do squeeze everything. It will help you as a flyer to be tight as stay up and the bases to lift you up easier. Also when you cradle still stay tight so when we catch you it doesn’t hurt there arms as much. Hope this helps!

As people have been saying, “holding your wait” is pretty much just staying tight. To do this work on your core. Try doing crunches and sit-ups daily. When you go up squeeze your butt(“Pretend you’re holding a penny in there”), I know it sounds weird but it REALLY helps. Also try Shrugging your shoulders while your up there, staying in fists instead of blades(because it helps your body tense up/stiffen), concentrating, locking your knees, keeping you back straight, and keeping your arms tight against your sides when you go up(holding onto the sides of your shorts or skirt helps alot because it keeps you stiff). Another thing that will help is sucking your body in and up. This means when you are going up in a stunt, raise yourself up through your shoulders to help your bases and stay light. Pull your legs together, because if you do not do this you will push your bases out, making it harder for them to hold you.
Good luck to you in making the squad 🙂
